ASPONA is the acronym of Association pour la sauvegarde de la nature et des sites de Roquebrune-Cap-Martin Menton et environs .

It is an association of voluntary citizens whose aim is to protect Nature and Heritage in the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton areas.

It was founded in 1972 and since it has:

•  Stopped the building of the Monaco heliport combined with a Tourist complex on the pointe de la Veille in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin,

•  Aimed at perpetuating green belts across the concrete wall of buildings along the seaside,

•  Analyzed the impact of all planning projects and given opinion and advice on them (for example on the location of water treatment plants),

•  Fought for the conservation of Posidonia beds (sea grass beds) that are essen tial for the survival of sea life by stopping offshore building developments.

To deal with the different situations and the problems the ASPONA resorts to law suits, public meetings and distributes flyers to inform the population.

The ASPONA also helps its members when their neighbourhood is threatened by development projects. The internet site is a quick means of getting information, use it and advertise it!

Money and building developments eat away our landscape and destroy our environment. What will be left to our children on the Côte-d'Azur? A huge, uninhabited, dreary mass of concrete?

It is the financial contribution of our members that enable us to preserve our environment!

Do not hesitate, join us!
